Novels set in Eastern New Mexico are rare...really good ones even more so! The droll language reaches into our unrecognized prejudices and false fronts and drags them jolting into the light of a marijuana bonfire. A superb writer has found his way onto the list of a budding New Mexico publisher. Both are to be congratulated.
—BOOKTALK
---
Very funny, very convincing novel of the Great Southwest, with accurate and nicely-drawn characters. It would make a good movie, though I'd hate to lose the dry, Ring Lardner- style narration.
—ALBUQUERQUE JOURNAL MAGAZINE
The book exudes the Southwestern ambience, celebrating the land, the people and the language. The characters include several strong women, red-necks, ex-hippies, wetbacks and fundamentalists. The undercurrents of meaning beneath the surface of this joyful and amusing story are notable.
—THE RATON RANGE
...a big marijuana stash, put-upon wetback laborers, a batch of ornery people and sundry shenanigans, complications and ...the development of the narrator from a foul-mouthed adolescent into a worthwhile human being...
